Part 2: How to choose the right boat and crew for your sailing

Part 2:  How to choose the right boat and crew for your CCY vacation

In part 1 of 3, we described the advantages of a crewed charter yacht.  Lets now find the right boat and crew for you.

Like everything else, it is best if you follow a certain logic while researching which means

  1. You have already chosen the dates of your next vacation and the area.
  2. Choose the sailing area keeping the following in mind:
  • Is most of the sailing done during winter months or summer?
  • Is there good diving/snorkeling?
  • Are the islands close or far apart?
  • Do the seas make for “sportive” sailing or are they generally calm with a nice breeze?
  • Are there lots of good beaches?

You also have a good idea of how much you are prepared to spend and you know how many persons in your party. So, choose the size of the boat accordingly: (normally one cabin for two )

Next, we need to establish what is most important to you and give it an order of priority:

WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU ?

  • Power boat, Multihull sailboats,Monohull sailboats
  • Gourmet meals
  • Privacy (not a matter of boat size, but rather configuration)
  • Diving, snorkeling
  • Deck space
  • Sailing with young children
  • Vegetarian meals
  • Gay friendly
  • Sailing school
  • Partying
  • Kayaking, Windsurfing
  • Nude sailing
  • Young crew, Old salts crew, Somewhere-in-the-middle crew
  • Boats with Air Conditionning

All this will help you find your dream boat and crew.  For instance, if you have a high priority on sailing with young children, you can rest assure that boats offering that service love kids and are normally equipped for such charters.
If you like nude sailing for example, you may even find a boat whose crew is naked too, who knows.

Your priorities will define the crew. And, by the way, no one is into this business to become rich but rather for their love of the trade.

After doing all this, you now have narrowed your search it to  5 or 6 possible boats.

Alright, lets find the boat:

Visit  each of these boats individual websites.  Check the yacht's lay-out, guests comments, menus, etc.

Select the one you like best and submit a non binding reservation request (no money involved yet). Your dream is about to come true.

WELCOME ABOARD !!
